Liurai is an East Timorese suco in the Remexio administrative office ( Aileu municipality ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Liurai had an area of ​​28.94 km². Now it is 29.07 km². The Suco is located in the northeast of the Remexio administrative office. To the south is the Suco Tulataqueo and southwest of the Suco Acumau . The north and west borders the Liurai for community Dili belonging Office of Administration Metinaro with its Sucos Sabuli and Wenunuc , on the east to the community Manatuto belonging Office of Administration laclo with his Suco Hohorai . The southern border is formed by the Cihohani River , into which the Suruboek and Ciulamori rivers, which have their source in Liurai, flow in the east . The rivers are part of the Northern Laclós system .

In the west, the villages Blinklala , Haukeo , Laraluha and Manutane ( Manu Tanen , Manetane ) are in direct proximity to each other . There is also a primary school here. There are no major roads that connect the Suco to the outside world. For the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007 , the ballot boxes had to be brought to the polling station in the Sucos headquarters in Manutane and picked up with horses and porters.

In the Suco are the three Aldeias Cotomori , Laraluha and Manutane .

Residents

The Suco has 375 inhabitants (2015), 176 men and 199 women. The population density is 12.9 inhabitants / km². There are 53 households in the Suco. About 75% of the population name Tetum Prasa as their mother tongue. About 25% speak Mambai .

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Francisco Mendonça elected Chefe de Suco. Paulo do Rego won the elections in 2009 and Inocencio Mesquita in 2016 .
