life and work
Strömquist grew up in Ravlunda in the Österlen region in southern Sweden and now lives in Malmö . She then published a fanzine with her own stories for the first time with rikedomen .
Her breakthrough as a comic artist came with her first published album, Hundra procent bold , which was released in 2005. She regularly draws for the comic magazine Galago and has published in various Swedish magazines and newspapers such as Dagens Nyheter , Dagens Arbete , Bang , Aftonbladet and Ordfront Magasin . She designed the cover for 2013 released album Shaking the Habitual the band The Knife and drew a comic strip about income inequality for their band website.
Her album Prins Charles Känsla was translated into French and into German as The Origin of Love , the album Kunskapens frukt about the social taboo of menstruation and the vulva into Danish, Finnish and German ( The Origin of the World ).
She studied political science . Her comics mostly have socio-political content from a left-wing political point of view and are satirical discussions of questions of power and injustice. She is particularly concerned with feminism .
She has worked on the youth radio station Sveriges Radio P3 since 2005 and was a presenter on the two satirical programs Tankesmedjan and Pang Prego . Together with the writer Caroline Ringskog Ferrada-Noli, she publishes the podcast En varg söker sin pod , until 2017 in collaboration with the newspaper Expressen and since then independently. The SVT television program Liv och Horace i Europa showed a “classic educational journey ” by her and Horace Engdahl through Europe in two seasons in 2016 and 2017 , with Strömquist and Engdahl discussing various writers.
