The book Lizhi pu ( Chinese  荔枝譜  /  荔枝谱 , Pinyin Lizhi pǔ  - " lychee Manual ") was designed by the calligrapher and learned officials Cai Xiang ( 1012 - 1067 ) in the time of the Northern Song Dynasty written.

The work dates from the year 1059, the 4th year of the Jiayou era of the Renzong emperor and comprises 1 booklet (juan).

It is the first monograph in Chinese history devoted to the lychee tree and the lychee fruit. It describes lychee species in Fujian Province , their cultivation, processing and storage.

In China, lychee trees often grow in Guangdong , Guangxi , Fujian , Sichuan , Yunnan, and Taiwan . The author was familiar with the lychee trees in the Song-era prefectures of Fuzhou and Quanzhou in Fujian Province from firsthand experience.

Another important work on the history of Chinese eating and drinking culture is the book Chalu (Reports on Tea) by the same author.
