Loggins and Messina
Loggins and Messina was an American pop - and country rock - Duo of the early 1970s, consisting of the musician and music producer Jim Messina (* 5. December 1947 in Maywood , California ) and the singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins (* January 7 1948 in Everett , Washington ) existed.
biography
Messina, who previously u. a. A member of the band Poco , but now worked as an independent producer for Columbia Records , and the then young singer Loggins, who had just received a contract with Columbia, met in 1970 in Los Angeles to produce a solo album for Loggins. The two recorded some songs in Loggins' living room. Because the collaboration was very intense, the decision was made to continue as a duo. In order to better introduce Loggins to a wider audience, the name of the already better known Messina was used and the project was called Loggins and Messina.
The debut album , which was titled Sittin 'In , was released in 1971. Its success meant that the duo continued to exist. Until the separation in 1976 Loggins and Messina were on tour and five more studio and two live albums were created. The duo's most successful single , Your Mama Don't Dance from the 1972 album Loggins and Messina , reached number 4 on the American charts and was awarded gold . The most successful longplayers Full Sail , On Stage and Mother Lode (all 1974) placed in the top 10 of the US charts .
Both protagonists continued their solo careers from 1977. In 2005 they toured the United States together again.
