history

Loifling was first mentioned in 1150 at the latest as Hofmark and the seat of the Diepoldinger Rapotonen under the administration of Ministerial Hermann von Lewflingen. The well-preserved Loifling moated castle also dates from this time .

In the 15th century the Hofmark came into the possession of the Barons von Poißl von und zu Loifling, who were also resident on Stefling and who owned the manor until the 19th century. In 1456 the Poissl built the St. Johann Baptist castle chapel.

The composer and Bavarian court director Johann Nepomuk von Poißl comes from the family of the Barons von Poißl .

The moated castle has been owned by the municipality of Traitsching since 1988 and is used as a municipal cultural center.
