It is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and includes the eastern part of the Vellore district and a smaller part of the Tiruvallur district . The constituency is named after the city of Arakkonam .

Constituency history
The constituency of Arakkonam has existed since the Lok Sabha election in 1977. The predecessor constituency was the constituency of Tiruttani . In the course of the reorganization of the constituencies in the run-up to the Lok Sabha election in 2009, the layout of the constituency was changed. He gave up a smaller part of his area to the newly founded constituency of Arani .
