The Madras South constituency from 1971 to 2004

The constituency of Madras South was created for the Lok Sabha election in 1957, when the former constituency of Madras was divided into the constituencies of Madras South and Madras North . For the 1977 Lok Sabha election, the new Madras Central was created from parts of the constituencies of Madras South and Madras North . As part of the reorganization of the constituencies in the run-up to the Lok Sabha election in 2009, the layout of the Madras South constituency was changed. At the same time it was renamed Chennai South .
