Hi-Tec Australian Open 2012

The Hi-Tec Australian Open 2012 took place from August 13th to 18th, 2012 at the National Convention Center in Canberra , Australia . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2012/13 and belonged to the International 70 category . The women's tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2012/13 and belonged to the WSA Gold 45 category . The prize money was $ 50,000.

Defending champion was Ramy Ashour , who reached the final again. In this he defeated Omar Mosaad with 12:10, 11: 5 and 11: 2 and thus secured his 24th title win on the World Tour. Nicol David defended her women's title from last year with a final victory against Laura Massaro , who she defeated with 17:15, 11: 2 and 11: 6. She won her 62nd title on the tour.

The fields of participation in the men's and women's competition consisted of 32 players each, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded for men and the 16 best women for women. A wildcard was not awarded.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 70,000 for the men and $ 50,000 for the women.
