The Lok Sabha constituency Kanchipuram (also Kancheepuram ) is a constituency in the elections for Lok Sabha , the lower house of the Indian parliament. It is located in the state of Tamil Nadu and covers most of the Kanchipuram district .

The constituency is reserved for candidates from the lower castes ( Scheduled Castes ). In the last election for Lok Sabha, 1,480,123 residents were eligible to vote.

Constituency history

The Kanchipuram constituency was created in the course of the reorganization of the constituencies in the run-up to the Lok Sabha election in 2009. The predecessor constituency was the Chengalpattu constituency . A Kanchipuram constituency had already existed in the first Lok Sabha election in 1951.
