Constituency history
The constituency of Madras Central was created for the Lok Sabha election in 1977 from parts of the constituencies of Madras North and Madras South . In the course of the reorganization of the constituencies in the run-up to the Lok Sabha election in 2009, the layout of the constituency was changed. At the same time, the constituency was renamed Chennai Central .
