The railway line Zadní Třebaň – Lochovice is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated as a state-guaranteed local line Hinter Třeban – Lochowitz (Czech: Místní dráha Zadní Třebaň – Lochovice ). It runs from Zadní Třebaň ( Hinter Třebaň ) to Lochovice ( Lochowitz ).
According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.
history
On March 31, 1900, Josef Sebastian Ritter von Daubek, landowner in Litten and the municipality of Hostomitz received the concession to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Hinter Třeban station on the Prague – Furth i state railway. W. to Lochowitz for connection to the Protivin – Zditz state railway line . The share capital of the company was 776,000 kroner in 3234 common shares of 200 kroner each and 646 priority shares of 200 kroner each. The route was opened on August 30, 1901. The operation was carried out by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) on behalf of the owners.
In 1912, the local railway's timetable indicated three mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains every day. It took them almost two hours for the 34-kilometer route.
After the collapse of Austria-Hungary in October 1918, management was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).
On January 1, 1925, the Hinter Třeban – Lochowitz local railway was nationalized by law and the line was integrated into the ČSD network.
During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The operators were now the Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB).
On April 17, 1945, the US Army Air Forces flew a heavy air raid on the Beroun railway junction, as a result of which the important main line between Pilsen and Prague was interrupted until the end of the war. Some of the trains have now been diverted to the Zadní Třebaň – Lochovice line. A military train was scheduled to travel on the night of April 20-21, but for unknown reasons it did not take place. A Czech resistance group active in the Brdy forests was planning an explosive attack on this train. However, the scheduled early train from Lochovice to Zadní Třebaň was mistakenly attacked. The locomotive and the first freight car loaded with milk cans derailed and fell down a steep slope at kilometer 2.4. The stoker František Lhoták died at the scene of the accident, the engine driver Václav Klíma succumbed to his serious injuries shortly afterwards in a Prague hospital. The locomotive remained lying in the bed of the Bělečský potok for weeks until it was recovered in the summer of 1945.
On May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD.
On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).
The 2008 timetable recorded a total of seven pairs of trains over the entire route, which ran every two hours .
An improved timetable has been in force since December 10, 2017, which provides for an hourly service between Zadní Třebaň and Liteň on weekdays .
Vehicle use
For the account of the local railway Hinter Třeban – Lochowitz , the kkStB procured two locomotives of the 97 series . The locomotives had the road numbers 97.192 and 97.193. After the nationalization in 1925, the two underperforming locomotives were replaced by locomotives with a tender of the ČSD class 324.2 (kkStB class 59), which were based in Rakovnik. Later the 422.0 and 423.0 provided service on this route.
The railcar traffic began on May 15, 1928 with the motor cars of the ČSD series M 120.2 . Class M 120.3 , M 120.4 , M 130.1 and M 130.2 railcars later also operated on this route . From 1946 to 1979 the ČSD series M 131.1 motor car with an older type of sidecar was used. Since then, passenger traffic has been handled exclusively by ČD class 810 railcars .
