The Postoloprty – Louny railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated as a state-guaranteed local railway Postelberg – Laun . It runs in Northern Bohemia from Postoloprty ( Postelberg ) to Louny ( Laun ).

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

On September 18, 1894, the gentlemen " Josef Maschat, princely Schwarzenbergsche domain director in Postelberg, Carl Kraus, k. u k. Major i. R. and Mayor in Postelberg and Adalbert Saitz, City Council in Postelberg ... the right to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Postelberg station on the Pilsen – Dux state railway to the Laun station on the Prague – Dux state railway ”. The company's share capital was 934,400 kroner in 4,500 ordinary shares of 200 kroner each.

The line was opened on September 16, 1895. The operation was carried out by the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) for the account of the owners. In 1905 the Postelberg – Laun local railway was nationalized and the line was integrated into the kkStB network.

In 1912, the local railway timetable indicated four mixed pairs of 2nd and 3rd class trains. They needed between 35 and 38 minutes for the 13-kilometer route. One of the train pairs also served the Laun Vorstadt station on the Rakonitz – Laun railway .

After the First World War , which Austria-Hungary lost , the line became the property of the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD). At the end of the 1920s there was a significant compression of the timetable as well as a significant reduction in travel time to up to 21 minutes. Mostly modern motor trains were now used. The winter timetable of 1937/38 recorded a total of 13 train pairs.

After the Sudetenland became part of Germany in autumn 1938, the line between Postelberg and Priesen-Postelberg came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn , Reichsbahndirektion Dresden . The Priesen-Postelberg station was designated as the border station. The connection was now included in the Reich curriculum as KBS 167a Laun – Postelberg . After the Second World War, the entire line came back to the ČSD.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia .

In the 2012 timetable, the route is served every two hours by passenger trains on the U11 line ( Česká Lípa hl. N. – Postoloprty). On weekdays, additional trains condense the offer, sometimes at hourly intervals.
