Lord Erskine

Lord Erskine is a hereditary British title ( Lord of Parliament ) in the Peerage of Scotland .

The Lord is the hereditary clan chief of Clan Erskine .

Award

The title was created around 1426 for Sir Robert Erskine of that Ilk . The exact date of the award is not certain; it is documented that he already held the title on May 24, 1429.

The 6th Lord was given the title of Earl of Mar in 1565 . The 14th Lord also inherited the title of Earl of Kellie in 1829 . The Lordship of Erskine is still a subordinate title of the Earldoms of Mar and Kellie, which have since been united.

Title heir ( Heir Presumptive ) is the brother of the current title holder Alexander Erskine, Master of Mar and Kellie (* 1952).
