Lorenz Bünsow

Lorenz Bünsow , also Laurentius Bünsow (born October 30, 1630 in Bobbin on Rügen , † October 10, 1679 in Stralsund ) was a German teacher.

Life

Lorenz Bünsow was the eldest son of the Stralsund pastor at the Bobbin Church St. Pauli Christian Bünsow (* 1609, † 1647) and his wife Anna Stappenbeck, the daughter of his predecessor in Bobbin. He attended the Stralsund grammar school , studied from 1648 at the University of Greifswald and after a short stay in Stralsund near Bahr from 1652 at the University of Wittenberg . He then became tutor to the mayor of Lübeck, David Gloxin , for whom he also wrote political writings on questions about Lübeck and the Hanseatic League in Latin. From 1661 to 1668 he was rector of the large city school in Wismar . His successor in Wismar was his younger brother Christian (* around 1640, † September 17, 1671).

At Easter 1668 he was called to Stralsund at the instigation of his former teacher and now Stralsund councilor Benedikt Bahr and was rector of the Stralsund grammar school until Michaelis 1679 .

His collection of letters was still in the Stralsund City Archives in the 19th century . On the occasion of his death, a whole series of funeral and memorial writings were created. A folder with five of these personal documents from the Stralsund secondary school library , which an antiquarian had illegally acquired, was offered on the Internet in autumn 2012.
