Robert LeBel

Robert "Bob" LeBel (born September 21, 1905 in Quebec City , Quebec , † September 20, 1999 ) was a Canadian ice hockey official .

Career

Robert LeBel founded the Interprovincial Senior League, of which he was president from 1944 to 1947. From 1955 to 1957 he headed the Quebec Amateur Hockey League, before serving as President of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association for twelve years until 1969 . He was also President of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF from 1960 to 1962 . In 1970 he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame for his services to ice hockey . The Trophée Robert LeBel , which has been awarded annually since 1978 to the team of the Canadian top junior league QMJHL with the lowest goalscoring average, is named after him.

Robert LeBel was also mayor of Chambly .
