Lorenz Dürnhofer
Lorenz Dürnhofer (born January 29, 1532 in Nuremberg ; † July 18, 1594 there ) was a German Protestant theologian.
Life
After Dürnhofer had attended the poetry school in Salzburg in 1545 , he enrolled at the University of Wittenberg on March 14, 1550 , where he was able to gain the favor of Philipp Melanchthon , supported by Paul Eber . On August 3, 1553, he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree and was recommended by Melanchthon as a teacher in Oelsnitz (Vogtland) .
On July 10, 1555 he returned to Wittenberg , was accepted as an adjunct in the Senate of the Philosophical Academy, gave lectures and on April 15, 1562 became a deacon at the city church . In 1567 he took over a pastor's office at the Egidienkirche in Nuremberg and was appointed superintendent there on November 2nd of the same year .
As a Philippist , he became involved in the denominational disputes with the Gnesiolutherans and signed various confessional documents in order to distance himself from the accusation of heresy. He campaigned for the abolition of exorcism at baptism , participated in the elaboration of the concord formula in 1579 and was entrusted with Moritz Heling in 1583 with the introduction of the ordination of priests at the University of Altdorf .
