Lorenz Wäger (born August 7, 1991 in St. Johann in Tirol ) is an Austrian biathlete .
Lorenz Wäger graduated from the Federal High School and Sports Real High School HIB Saalfelden . He contested his first international races as part of the 2009 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Canmore , where he was 39th in the individual and seventh with Bernhard Leitinger and Albert Herzog in the relay. A year later he was tenth of the individual and 55th of the sprint in Torsby , 2011 in Nové Město na Moravě tenth of the individual, 44th of the sprint, 43rd of the pursuit and sixth with David Komatz , Christian Kitzbichler and Bernhard Leitinger in the relay. This was followed by the junior races of the European Biathlon Championships 2011 in Ridnaun , in which Wäger was 12th in the individual, 15th in the sprint and ninth in the pursuit. In the junior races of the European Biathlon Championships in 2012 , the Austrian placed 18th in the individual, fifth in the sprint and ninth in the pursuit in Osrblie . He finished the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2012 in Kontiolahti as 56th in the individual, 18th in the sprint and fifth in the pursuit.
In the 2013/14 season , Wäger made his debut in the IBU Cup in Ridnaun and achieved points straight away as twelfth in the sprint. At the season finale he was able to reach the podium for the first time in Martell as third-placed behind Håvard Bogetveit and Antonin Guigonnat . At the 2014 European Biathlon Championships in Nové Město na Moravě , Wäger was 37th in the individual and sprint races, 20th in the pursuit and won the gold medal in the relay race together with Michael Reiter , Peter Brunner and David Komatz , which was the first time the Austrian men's relay team had one won international title.
