Bernhard Leitinger (born April 6, 1990 ) is an Austrian biathlete .

Bernhard Leitinger from SC St. Martin bei Lofer made his international debut in 2006 at the Junior World Championships in Biathlon in Presque Isle , where he was 31st in the individual, 35th in the sprint and 47th in the pursuit. A year later in Martell he came in 36th in the individual, 23rd in the sprint and 29th in the pursuit race. Also in 2008 in Ruhpolding he was used and was 15th in the individual, 28th in the sprint race, 40th in the pursuit and 13th in the relay race. The world title fights in Canmorebecame Leitinger's fourth Junior World Championships in 2009. In Canada he reached 11th in the sprint - it was also his best individual performance at a Junior World Championship -, 23rd in the sprint, 26 in the pursuit and was seventh in the relay. In 2010 the Austrian started in Torsby , where he finished 60th in the individual, 17th in the sprint and 25th in the pursuit and narrowly missed a medal with Albert Herzog , Christian Kitzbichler and Michael Hörl in fourth place in the relay race. He also started in the junior races of the 2010 European Biathlon Championships in Otepää . After a 13th place in the sprint, 33rd place in the pursuit and fourth place in the individual, he was used for the relay race in the men's area. For the sixth time Leitinger took part in a Junior World Championship in Nové Město na Moravě and is one of the few biathletes who have participated in Junior World Championships more than five times. With the ranks 25 in the individual, 22 in the sprint and 15 in the pursuit as well as sixth in the relay race, he left the junior area with good performances.

Leitinger contested his first races in the IBU Cup in the 2009/10 season . In his first sprint race in Idre he was 38th and won his first points. The best result was a 33rd place at the start of the 2010/11 season in the Beitostølen sprint . The first use at a major event was the start in the relay race of the European Championships in 2010. With Julian Eberhard , Michael Hörl and Sven Grossegger he came in ninth place. At the Austrian Championships of the Year in Hochfilzen , he won the bronze medal in the relay competition with Michael Hauser and Grossegger as Salzburg II . At the finals of the 2011/12 season , Leitinger achieved first podium positions in the IBU Cup in a sprint and a pursuer in Altenberg with third place.

In January 2011 Leitinger began his four-year training as a top police sportsperson with the Federal Police , which he completed in 2014.
