Michael Hauser (born August 15, 1981 in Altenmarkt im Pongau ) is an Austrian cross-country skier and biathlete .

Michael Hauser is a regular soldier and starts for USC Altenmarkt . At first he was active as a cross-country skier. He contested his first international races in lower-class competitions such as the FIS races and the Continental Cup races in 2003. That same year, in December in Ramsau am Dachstein , he took part in his first race in the cross-country skiing world cup , but finished the 10-kilometer Freestyle racing doesn't. A year later he started at the same place over 30 kilometers, but did not finish again. In between there were various other lower class races, including an FIS race in Sulzberg , in which he finished second behind Johannes Eder . Up until 2006, only races in lower-class competitions followed, in particular the cross-country Alpine Cup . In March 2006 he won his first FIS race in Grainau-Zugspitzdorf with a 10-kilometer freestyle mass start race. A few days later, Hauser started at the military world championships in Andermatt , where he finished 20th in the 15 kilometer freestyle. In February 2007, the Austrian was used in his third World Cup race, which he finished for the first time and was 65th in the 15-kilometer freestyle race. It took place in Haanja in the following month Hauser again participation in the military world championships, in which he was 13th over 15 kilometers freestyle. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo , he was a substitute for the Austrian team. The last international outing in cross-country skiing was participation in the 2008 military world championships in Hochfilzen , where Hauser was 52nd in the 15-kilometer freestyle. He continued to take part in national races and won the title at the 2009 national championships in Seefeld in Tyrol over the 30-kilometer freestyle mass start.

In 2008 Hauser switched from cross-country skiing to biathlon. He contested his first races in the IBU Cup in Obertilliach , where he was 53rd in the individual and 54th in the sprint. At the next station in Martell he won first points as 16th of the sprint. In Ridnaun , he was fourth in the top ten for the first time. At the start of the 2009/10 season , he made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup . Hauser contested his first race in Östersund , where he was 96th of the individual. In Pokljuka he achieved his best positions in the World Cup so far with 49th places in the individual and in the pursuit. After the fifth World Cup station in Ruhpolding , he was transferred back to the IBU Cup, where he finished third in Haute-Maurienne and reached the podium for the first time. In Brusson he started for the first time in biathlon at the military world championships and was 13th in the patrol race. At the national championships in 2010, he surprisingly won the sprint race title.
