Los Anguias is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Los Anguias is the second largest town in the Milluhuaya canton and is located in the Coripata municipality in the Nor Yungas province . The village is located at an altitude of 1697 m , six hundred meters above the Río Tamampaya on its left, western bank.
geography
Los Anguias is located in the transition area between the Altiplano and the Cordillera Real in the west and the foothills of the Amazon lowlands in the east. The climate of the region is a typical time of day climate , in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than in the course of the seasons.
The annual precipitation here in the subtropical Yungas is 1100 mm (see Coroico climate diagram) and has a clear dry season from May to August and a rainy season from December to February. The monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 20 ° C and 25 ° C, during the day it is warm in summer and pleasantly cool at night.
Transport network
Los Anguias is 130 kilometers by road northeast of La Paz , the capital of the department.
From La Paz, the asphalted highway Ruta 3 leads north-east for 52 kilometers to Cotapata and from there another 35 kilometers to Coroico . Here the Ruta 40 branches off to the southeast and after forty kilometers past Coripata , Auquisamaña , Tabacal and Pararani and Huayrapata reaches the village of Los Anguias .

Due to the historical population development in the Municipio Coripata, the Aymara population is predominant, 72.3 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
