Los Skalameros is a band from Stuttgart with roots in Schwäbisch Hall . The band's name is derived from “Ska” and “Salamero”, a term from the Argentine vernacular.

history

Los Skalameros on Stuttgart's Schlossplatz

In 2000 some of today's scalameros discovered a common interest in making music. The first half-hour appearance took place in 2001 on the occasion of a school carnival of the free Waldorf School Schwäbisch Hall . The keyboardist for the band was also found there. In 2005 the first professionally recorded album Did You Forget? Was created in the Bauerstudios in Ludwigsburg . . For professional reasons, the drummer Jan left the band after the recordings. Since then, Julian has been on the drums.

As part of the Stuttgart-Samara cultural exchange program, Los Skalameros were allowed to represent the Stuttgart music scene on an international level, traveled to Russia for two weeks in July 2003 and played there in front of 20,000 spectators on Kuibyshev Square in Samara on the occasion of the “City Day”. Because of the contacts made there, they managed to organize the trip to Samara a second time in May 2005. In addition to Russia, the program also included other international experiences, including in Switzerland, Austria, England and Italy. They also played at several festivals, including Chiemsee Reggae Summer , Summerjam and Rototom Sunsplash . In January 2009 Los Skalameros won the Germany-wide Internet competition by Justaloud (Sawubona Music Jam).
