Athletic career

Killermann started his career as a top division player on May 13, 1956 at the age of 21 in the game SC Empor Rostock - SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt (0: 1). In the 73rd minute, he was substituted on for right wing striker Kurt Viertel . Up until the end of the season, when the season was played for the first time in a calendar year rhythm, he was used twice as a substitute. SC Wismut, whose football team has played its home games in Aue since the sports club was founded in 1954 , became GDR football champions for the first time this season. Also in 1957 Killermann was only a substitute player, but already came to eight league games and also scored his first two league goals. With his team he was able to defend the championship title. In the fall of 1957, SC Wismut made its debut in the European Cup . After five games, the GDR champions failed at the Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam . Killermann was only used in two preliminary round games against the Polish champions Gwardia Warsaw .

In the 1958 season, Killermann became a regular at SC Wismut. Of the 26 league games, he played 23 games and was his team's top scorer with nine championship goals. Because of the 1957 championship, Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt was also able to compete in the 1958/59 European Cup season . There they advanced to the quarter-finals and only failed there against the Swiss champions BSC Young Boys . In the eight European Cup games Killermann was used six times, but could not use his scoring danger shown in the league. In 1959 SC Wismut became GDR champions for the third time, Killermann with 24 league games, mainly playing right winger, was again one of the team's most successful shooters with six goals. In the three European Cup games in 1960 he was not used because he had injured himself early in the top division season 1960 and could only be used there three times.

In 1961, GDR football returned to the summer-spring rhythm, with 39 league games being played from March 1961 to June 1962. Due to his injury, Killermann was only used regularly in the league team again from September. He played 25 point games, first in defense, then in midfield and in the last ten matches as a striker as usual. In these games, however, he only got four goals. Initially, he had played several games with the reserve team of SC Wismut, which concluded the season as the champions of the league reserves. The league season 1962/63 was normal again with 26 point games. In this as in the following two seasons (from 1963/64 the football section returned to the name BSG Wismut Aue) Killermann only made 48 out of 78 possible point game stakes and played in different positions.

It was only when coach Bringfried Müller took over the top division team from Wismut Aue for the 1965/66 season that Killermann was able to play through a full season with 25 games and emerged as a midfielder. Between 1966 and 1968 Killermann was not absent in any league game, although he was mainly used as a central defender in the second half of 1966/67. Although he was reported for the season 1968/69 for the Oberliga lineup of Wismut Aue, he was not used this season. 1969/70 was Killermann's last league season. Between the 3rd and 15th matchday he was usually used twelve times, and his last league game he played on the last day of the season in the encounter between FC Karl-Marx-Stadt - Wismut Aue (1: 2), in which again as Central defender ran up. After 224 games in the GDR league, in which he scored 27 goals, Killermann retired from competitive sports at the age of 35.
