Lothar Koch (born June 9, 1860 in Leipzig , † April 7, 1915 in Bremen ) was a German educator .

biography

Koch was the son of a businessman. He attended the Thomas-Gymnasium in Leipzig. Then he studied philology and history at the University of Leipzig and obtained his doctorate in 1883. phil. in Leipzig. In 1884 he started as an assistant teacher in Bremerhaven and in 1885 became a senior teacher . He was very active in the cultural life of Bremerhaven. In 1901 he came to the old grammar school in Bremen. Here, too, he was active in the Bremen Art Association , the Artists' Association and the Lessing Educational Association . In 1904 he went on an archaeological trip to Greece . From 1905 to 1907 he was a senior teacher at the newly founded New Gymnasium in Bremen on Parkallee ( Gymnasium am Barkhof ) and in 1905 received the title of professor. 1907 returned to the old grammar school as rector. As a school reformer, he enlivened the school's cultural life. He bought a number of antique plaster casts for the school.
