Lothar Lippa (* 1936 ) is a former German wrestler .

Career

Lothar Lippa learned to wrestle at SC Chemie Halle-Leuna . He wrestled exclusively in free style. In 1954 he took second place both in the all-German youth championship and in the GDR youth championship. In 1956 he won his first title at a GDR senior middleweight championship. Lothar Lippa had his first important international assignment at the freestyle world tournament in Sofia in 1958 , which was held instead of a world championship. There he took an excellent 3rd place. He also celebrated a great success at the World Championships in Tehran in 1959 , when he again took 3rd place in the middleweight division. He was the first freestyle wrestler from the GDR to win a medal at an international championship.

In 1960 he did not succeed in asserting himself in the elimination for the Olympic Games in Rome . He was only the third winner behind Georg Utz from Kornwestheim and Johann Sterr also Munich- Neuaubing. In the same year he wrestled in an international match between the GDR and Sweden against Hans Antonsson . After that he no longer appeared.
