Louis Amade

Louis Jean Mathieu Amade (born January 13, 1915 in Ille-sur-Têt , Département Pyrénées-Orientales , † October 4, 1992 in Paris ) was a French writer and songwriter.

Live and act

Amade was a son of Jean Amade and his wife Marie-Thérèse Battle. Since early childhood of a sickly nature, he completed his school days in his hometown. a. To study criminology at the University of Montpellier .

In 1940 Amade found a job in the administration of the Police Prefecture of Paris.

Amade achieved his artistic breakthrough with his lyrics for Edith Piaf . Later he also wrote a lot for Gilbert Bécaud . The Association des amis de Louis Amade , founded in 1995, took his text “L'important c'est la rose” as an opportunity to have a new rose grown in memory of Amade by the rose breeder Georges Delbard (1906–1999).

Amade died in Paris on October 4, 1992. Bishop Jean-Michel di Falco Leandri celebrated the funeral in the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral . Amade found his final resting place in the cemetery in his hometown.
