Louis Aronsohn
Louis Aronsohn (born October 18, 1850 in Wissek , † 1928 in Berlin ) was a banker and liberal politician.
Aronsohn came from a Jewish family. After elementary and commercial school, he worked in a bank and later became a self-employed banker . He was also the manor owner and member of the supervisory board of numerous industrial companies in eastern Germany. Aronsohn was first vice-president and later president of the Chamber of Commerce in Bromberg . In Bromberg he was also an unpaid city councilor . In recognition of his achievements, he was appointed to the Secret Commerce Council. From 1875 he also headed the Jewish community in Bromberg. In 1910 he donated the statue of the arch tensioner , one of the landmarks of Bromberg, which was created by Ferdinand Lepcke .
He was a member of the county council of the province of Posen and the Provincial Committee. Between 1903 and 1918 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the Free People's Party, later for the Progressive People's Party . As a member of parliament, he represented the constituency of Bromberg 2 (Wirsitz - city and district of Bromberg). In parliament he was an influential figure as chairman of the accounting commission. In addition, through numerous motions in the House of Representatives, he was committed to modernizing the Prussian three-class suffrage .
In relation to the Polish minority, Aronsohn took a partially contradicting stance.
During the First World War he was a financial advisor for occupied Russian Poland. After the November Revolution, Aronsohn was a member of the Prussian constitutional assembly for the DDP . He was a member of the Stargarder Masonic Lodge Augusta on Immortality .
From 1918 he was an honorary citizen of the city of Bromberg.
