Louis Joseph Harant (born November 20, 1895 in Baltimore , † July 2, 1986 in Vero Beach ) was an American sports marksman .
Career
Louis Harant took part in the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp . With the army revolver over 30 m he missed a top position in the individual competition, but with the team he was far more successful. The US team, which started without Raymond Bracken, who was placed in second place in the individual over this distance , won the competition with 1310 points, a clear advantage over the Greeks, who were second with 1285 points. Harant received the gold medal along with Karl Frederick , Michael Kelly , Alfred Lane and James Snook .
In 1920 Harant was First Lieutenant in the 23rd Infantry Regiment in Washington, DC During World War I he was stationed in France . He also served in the Philippines and took part in both World War II and the Korean War. Harant retired from active duty in the rank of lieutenant colonel . He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
