Louis Laiblin

Ernst Philipp Friedrich Louis Laiblin (born June 4, 1861 in Pfullingen ; † February 10, 1927 in Tübingen ) was a German privateer , patron , honorary senator of the University of Tübingen and an honorary citizen of the city of Pfullingen.

Life

Louis Laiblin comes from the Swabian Laiblin entrepreneurial dynasty, which shaped the paper industry in Pfullingen. His parents were Laura Larissa Laiblin born. Lang and the paper manufacturer, Kommerzienrat Ernst Louis Laiblin. In 1885 Louis Laiblin married Helene Fleischhauer. From his wedding on he lived as a privateer. His wife died in 1897.

After leaving the family business, Laiblin lived on his considerable fortune of 4.5 million marks . Laiblin promoted the fine arts. The building projects he donated included a. the Schönberg Tower and the Pfullinger Hallen , both designed by the renowned architect Theodor Fischer . A total of around 300 foundations are known from Laiblin (including book foundations for the benefit of the Tübingen University Library , especially from the time of the First World War ). In honor of his wife, who died early, he had the path to the Mädlesfelsen built, which leads romantically over the ridge of the Swabian Alb to the rock.

In addition, Louis Laiblin campaigned with energy for the modernization of his homeland and was one of the first to promote electricity; The Swabian financed one of the first street cleaning machines for Pfullingen.
