Louise Nelum Sandamali "Loui" Sand (born December 27, 1992 in Modera , Sri Lanka ) is a former Swedish handball player who was part of the squad of the Swedish national team.
Career
Louise Sand started playing handball in 2001 for the Swedish club Kärra HF . Four years later she joined Önnereds HK . In 2009 the outside player moved to IK Sävehof . Here Sand initially played in the youth division and later switched to the women's division. With Sävehof she won the championship in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. In the 2017/18 season she was under contract with the French club Brest Bretagne Handball . She then joined CJF Fleury Loiret Handball .
Sand played a total of 29 times for the Swedish national junior handball team, for which they threw 66 goals. With the junior selection, she won the U-20 World Cup in 2012 and was also elected to the All-Star team at the end of the tournament . In the same year she made her debut in the Swedish women's national team and took part in the European Championship . At the 2014 European Championships , she won the bronze medal with Sweden. She took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
On January 7, 2019, she announced her retirement from active handball as she was going to undergo gender reassignment measures .
