Lovelite Detenamo

Lovelite Chrissa Detenamo (born December 22, 1993 ) is a Nauruan athlete who is mainly active on sprint courses . She holds the national record of Nauru in the 100-meter run , 200-meter run and 60-meter run (hall).

Career

Detenamo's international sports career began at the age of 15 at the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Bressanone , where she competed in the 100-meter run. She ran a personal best with 13.32 seconds, but was eliminated in the run-up. In the same year she took part in the Micronesian Championships (regional competitions of the Athletics Oceania Championships ). There she reached second place in the 100 and 200 meter run with a time of 13.39 s and 27.44 s respectively. At the Athletics Junior World Championships 2010 in Moncton , she was able to improve her best performance significantly to 12.75 s, but was only sixth in the lead. Detenamo also took part in the first Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in August 2010 . With 13.04 s she came there in fifth place in the preliminary round, in the following main race she did not take part . At the Oceania Junior Athletics Championships 2010, a U20 competition organized by the Oceania Athletics Association in Cairns , she finished second in the 100-meter run with 12.64 seconds. Two years later she won the gold medal in this competition with 12.36 seconds.

Professional career

In 2011 Detenamo competed for Nauru at the 2011 World Athletics Championships in Daegu , where she shortened her best performance over 100 meters to 12.51, but was eliminated in the preliminary run. She also did not make it into the final at the 2013 World Athletics Championships . At the World Indoor Athletics Championships in 2012 Detenamo achieved a new national record over 60 meters with 8.04 seconds in the run-up, where she came in 7th place.

In 2013 Detenamo took part in the Pacific Mini Games, a variant of the Pacific Games for smaller states, in Wallis and Futuna . There she won the bronze medal in the 100-meter run and set a Nauruan national record with a time of 12.22 s. She achieved another best time in the country with 25.50 seconds in the 200-meter run.

At the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Sopot in 2014 , Detenamo stayed under the 8-second mark for the first time in the 60-meter lead with 7.94 s and thus again improved the national record.

Detenamo trains regularly at the High Performance Training Center in the Gold Coast , Australia , operated by the Oceania Athletics Association.
