Lowick is located on the western edge of Bocholt's urban area and was originally a scattered settlement with a purely agricultural character. In the course of the 20th century, the development of the Bocholt core city expanded to include the municipal area, which led to strong population growth. To the south of the closed residential development of Lowick, several medium-sized industrial and craft businesses are located. The former parish Lowick had an area of ​​5.7 km².

history

Lowick is an old Westphalian peasantry and was first mentioned in a document in the 10th century. A village school was established in 1861.

Since the 19th century Lowick formed a rural community in the office of songs (since 1937 office of songs-Werth ) of the district of Borken . On January 1, 1975, Lowick was incorporated into the city of Bocholt by the Münster / Hamm Act .
