Location of songs in North Rhine-Westphalia

Liedern is a district of the city of Bocholt in the Borken district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Liedern was an independent community until 1974 .

geography

Liedern is located on the western edge of the Bocholt city area and was originally a scattered settlement with a purely agricultural character. In the course of the 20th century, a settlement center formed on the road to Werth near Anholter Postweg. The former community of Liedern had an area of 10.6 km².

history

Liedern was originally a Westphalian peasantry and has one of the oldest estates in the city: Hofs Brömmling, which was mentioned in 1265 as the property of the St. Viktor Stift in Xanten . Between 1730 and 1860 the St. Michaelis ironworks existed in Liedern , where the locally mined lawn iron ore was smelted . There is evidence of a school in songs as early as 1788.

Liedern has been a rural community in the Borken district since the 19th century and was the seat of the Liedern Office (from 1937 Liedern-Werth Office ). On January 1, 1975, Lieder was incorporated into the city of Bocholt by the Münster / Hamm Act .
