Lankern is a district of the city of Hamminkeln in the Wesel district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Since the regional reform of 1975 , a small part of Lankern has belonged to the city of Bocholt in the Borken district .

Lankern is an agricultural scattered settlement without a compact village center. The eastern part of Lankern is crossed by the Dingdener heights . In the west, Lankern extends to the Kleine Issel , a tributary of the Issel . The Beltingsbach flows through Lankern in an east-west direction .

history

Lankern is an old Westphalian farming community that stretched north of the parish village of Dingden and has belonged to the municipality of Dingden in the old district of Borken since the 19th century . The earliest documented mention comes from the 10th century, when a property belonging to the Werden monastery in Longhere (Lankern) was mentioned.

During the territorial reform of January 1, 1975, the majority of Lankern came together with the rest of the community of Dingden to the town of Hamminkeln in the new Wesel district and thus moved from the Westphalia region to the North Rhine region . An area of ​​1.68 km² on the northern edge of Lankern was added to the city of Bocholt and thus remained in Westphalia.
