The founding of the church probably dates back to the 10th century; it was first mentioned in a document in 1154. The oldest parts from the Romanesque and Gothic periods consist of tuff and Roman bricks , which can be proven to have come from the Roman camp in Xanten . Inside is a fresco of Christophorus from around 1450. The organ was built in 1774. The 37.70 meter high church tower was previously lower and was raised to its current height in 1878. 52
