Spork is a district of the city of Bocholt in the Borken district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1974 Spork was an independent municipality .
geography
Spork is located in the northwest of the Bocholt urban area on the border with the Netherlands and was originally a purely agricultural scattered settlement. In the course of the 20th century, a settlement core developed around the Ludgerikirche, built in 1933. The former municipality of Spork had an area of 9.8 km².
history
Spork is an old Westphalian peasantry that was first mentioned in 1188. There is evidence of a school in Spork in 1750. Since the 19th century Spork has formed a rural community in the Liedern district (since 1937 Liedern-Werth district ) in the Borken district . On January 1, 1975, Spork was incorporated into the city of Bocholt by the Münster / Hamm Act .
