Luís Manuel Ferreira Delgado (born November 1, 1979 in Luanda , Angola ), known as Delgado , is an Angolan football player . He took part in the 2006 World Cup in Germany with the Angolan national soccer team.

Career

Delgado began his career in 1997 in the Angolan domestic league . Here he first played ten seasons with Petro Atlético and 1º de Agosto . With the former he was three times Angolan champion and four times cup winner in the period from 1997 to 2002 . After the 2006 World Cup , the defender moved to the French club FC Metz , with whom he was promoted to Ligue 1 in 2007 and relegated again at the end of the season. But only in his third season in Metz, he was more often for the first team and not in the reserve team FC Metz B used. From Lorraine in 2009, he went to the then second division side En Avant de Guingamp . His contract was canceled after only one season because he could not prevail. He spent the last two years of his career in Angola with Progresso do Sambizanga .

National team

Delgado made his debut in the Angolan national team in a game in and against Swaziland on March 8, 1998. Until 2008 he was used sporadically and completed a total of 21 internationals. He had eleven and thus a large part of his missions in 2006. When Angola took part in a soccer World Cup for the first time that year, he was on the field in all three games in his country. His team was eliminated after the preliminary round.
