Luc Auguste Sangaré

Luc Auguste Sangaré (born June 20, 1925 in Ségou , Mali ; † February 11, 1998 in Bamako ) was a theologian from the West African state of Mali and archbishop of Bamako .

Life

Luc Sangaré received on 12 September 1954, the sacrament of Holy Orders . On May 26, 1962 , he was ordained Archbishop of Bamako and was thus the first local bishop of Bamako, after the Society of Missionaries of Africa had always provided the bishops. Until his death in 1998, Sangaré was a respected opinion leader in Islamic- dominated Mali, who also enjoyed high recognition among the country's Muslim majority.
