Lucala is a district in northern Angola . The name is borrowed from the river Lucala flowing by here .

history

Thanks to its location between different ethnic groups and the different ethnic groups that passed through here, Lucala had different names in its history: "Calamba Kanzumbi", then "Pamba de Ambaca" or "Pamba Real", and later "Praça Velha Ambaca". On June 29, 1927, Lucala was elevated to a small town ( Vila ) by the High Commissioner for Angola, the then governor of the Portuguese colony .

Lucala is the seat of a district of the same name ( Município ) in the province of Cuanza Norte . The district area covers 1718 km² with 14,445 inhabitants (extrapolated estimate 2013). From now on, the 2014 census should provide reliable population data.
