Lucas Ribeiro dos Santos (born January 19, 1999 in Salvador ) is a Brazilian football player . He has been under contract with Internacional Porto Alegre as a loan player to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim since August 2020 .
Career
In the club
Ribeiro joined the youth of EC Vitória in 2015 at the age of 16 . After Paulo César Carpegiani took over the first team, he made his debut in the Série A in August 2018 . In total, Ribeiro made 16 Série A appearances in the 2018 season and relegated his team to Série B at the end of the season .
On January 28, 2019, Ribeiro moved to the Bundesliga for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . He signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2023 and started team training after the U20 South American Championship in February. Until the end of the 2018/19 season , Ribeiro was not part of the matchday squad in any game under Julian Nagelsmann . In the 2019/20 season, the new head coach Alfred Schreuder was increasingly in the matchday squad, but was not used. Ribeiro made his Bundesliga debut on matchday 23 when he was substituted on in the 2-2 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach shortly before the end of the game and scored the equalizer in stoppage time. Another substitute followed a week later, before he was no longer considered until the end of the season, even under interim coach Markus Kaltenbach .
In August 2020, Ribeiro extended his contract until June 30, 2024 and was loaned to Internacional Porto Alegre in his home country until December 31, 2021 at his “express request” .
In the national team
Ribeiro has been a member of the Brazilian U20 national team since October 2018 . In January 2019 he took part with the selection at the U20 South American Championship in Chile .
