Career

society

Rodríguez has been wearing the Estudiantes de La Plata shirt since he was a child . On July 11, 2015, in a 0-0 draw against CA San Martín de San Juan , he made his debut in the Argentine Primera División at the age of 18 when he came on for Carlos Auzqui after 78 minutes . He scored his first competitive goal on September 8 in a 2-1 home win against CA Aldosivi . On October 18, he scored twice in one game in a 4-1 home win against Quilmes AC for the first time in his career. Nevertheless, he did not make regular appearances in the first team until the 2016/17 season and only established himself as an important support in the offensive of Lucas Bernardi's team in the following season 2017/18 .

At the beginning of January 2019, Rodríguez moved to Major League Soccer , where he was initially signed in a loan deal by the capital city franchise DC United . The club has a purchase option for the offensive player at the end of the 2019 season . Rodríguez followed the trend of young Argentinians such as Milton Valenzuelas , Tomas Martínez , Eric Remedis and Ezequiel Barcos to take the next step in the United States after starting their careers in their home country. He made his debut on March 4, 2019 (1st matchday) in a 2-0 home win against Atlanta United , in which he succeeded in assisting. Just two weeks later, he scored for his new club for the first time in a 5-0 home win against Real Salt Lake . In the 2019 game year , he netted six times in 33 league games. At the end of the year he returned to Estudiantes after the two clubs could not agree on a permanent transfer.

National team

In 2017, Rodríguez made ten appearances in the Argentine U-20 national team . He was also part of the selection that represented the nation at the 2017 U-20 World Cup in South Korea . Rodríguez was used in the surprising preliminary round in all three group games.
