The Lucha Underground Trios Championship is a title from the wrestling television show Lucha Underground . As is common in the Lucha Libre , it is the Mexican variant of a tag team championship, but here it is awarded to three wrestlers, i.e. a trio. Current titleholders are Dante Fox, Killshot and The Mack.
history
In the 20th episode of the 1st season, promotion director Dario Cueto (played by Luis Fernandez-Gil ) announced that he wanted to honor the traditions of the Lucha Libre with regard to the trios and presented the Lucha Underground Trios Championship for the first time. A competition for the title should take place from the following episode. In episode 21, the team around Big Ryck , Killshot and The Mack defeated Pentagón Jr. , Sexy Star and Super Fly. In the second week, Angélico, Ivelisse and Son of Havoc defeated Aero Star, Dragon and Fénix . A week later, Cueto put together a team: King Cuerno , Cage and El Texano Jr. defeated the reigning Lucha Underground Champion Prince Puma and his team partners Johnny Mundo and Hernandez . A full episode followed (S01E24) with the final of the competition. Angélico, Ivelisse and Son of Havoc defeated the other two teams in a three way dance , but then The Crew (Bael, Mr. Cisco and Cortez Castro) also had to face. However, they were able to win the title against all odds and thus became the first Lucha Underground Trios Champions.
They successfully defended their title in episode 28 in a ladder match against The Crew and in episode 30 against a team consisting of Big Ryck, Cage and Delavar Daivari. In the season finale, the Ultima Luch event , they were subject to The Disciples of Death (Barrio Negro, El Sinestro de la Muerte and Trece).
In the second season Angélico, Ivelisse and Son of Havoc could regain the title in episode 8, but lost it again in episode 14 against a team consisting of Dragon Azteca Jr., Prince Puma and Rey Mysterio . This team also did not last long and lost to Jack Evans, Johnny Mundo and PJ Black shortly afterwards . In the season finale, at Ultima Lucha II , Aero Star , Drago and Fénix became new champions.
In the following season, the Reptile Tribe initially won the title of Aero Star, Drago and Fénix. They kept the title the entire season, but lost it on Ultima Lucha Tres against Killshot, The Mack and Dante Fox.
Since Dante Fox did not appear in the next defense of the title, he was replaced by Son of Havoc in the fourth season. The team eventually lost the title to a second edition of the Reptile Tribe, which now consists of Cobra Moon, Daga and Jeremiah Snake.
Title chronology
As is customary in wrestling, the length of the championship is based on the real elapsed time, not on the narrative time of the television series. Therefore, the days were determined by the recording times.
