Ludger Hallermann (born November 2, 1936 in Hamm ; † March 6, 2019 ) was a German geodesist and from 1974 to 2002 professor of engineering geodesy at the University of Bonn .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in his hometown and studying at the University of Bonn (1956–1960) , Hallermann received his doctorate in 1965 under the astronomer Joseph Meurers . He then devoted himself to engineering geodesy, which became the subject of his post- doctoral thesis, Contributions to the implementation of technical measurements , which he completed in 1971 . After his legal clerkship (1964–1967) he worked as a senior assistant at the Geodetic Institute of the University of Bonn. In 1974 a new engineering geodesy department was set up there and Hallermann was appointed professor for this specialist discipline. Hallermann headed the department from the beginning until his retirement in 2002. As a result of financial constraints, the professorship could not be filled again.

Due to his specialization in the testing of surveying instruments, he participated in DIN and ISO committees. From 1976 to 1978 he headed the FIG commission "Engineering Surveying". For more than three decades, Hallermann, who gave a series of lectures at the Universities of Helsinki and Warsaw , oversaw the “Overview of the (national and international) literature in surveying” in the journal for surveying . In 2003 he donated his library of around 15 meters of shelving to the Dortmund Museum of Surveying Technology .

Hallermann died on March 6, 2019 and was buried on March 16, 2019 in the Vilich cemetery in Bonn .
