In pastoral care, Jonas places particular emphasis on working with families and stands for a presence of the Church in the world of work. He is also considered to be a sponsor of hospice work and, among other things, brought the ecumenical hospice foundation Haus St. Benedikt to life in Recke in early 2007 .
