Ludovico Chigi Albani della Rovere (born July 10, 1866 in Ariccia , † November 14, 1951 in Rome ), 8th Prince of Farnese and Campagnano, 4th Prince of Soriano, 8th Duke of Ariccia and Formello, Marchese di Magliana Pecorarecci, Hereditary Marshal of the Holy Roman Church and Guardian / Protector of the Conclave , was the 76th Grand Master of the Order of Malta from May 30, 1931 until his death from a heart attack in 1951 .

Under his leadership, the order's great nursing and charitable activities developed during the Second World War .

In 1947 he became president of the international committee to supervise the reconstruction of the abbey of Monte Cassino .

Chigi was responsible for three papal conclaves. He was an honorary member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences .

Chigi belonged to the most famous princely families of Rome, he was the son of the Knight of Malta Prince Mario Chigi Albani della Rovere (1832-1914), Prince of the Holy Roman Empire , and his wife Princess Antoinette zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn (1837-1918).

On June 5, 1893, Chigi married in Rome Donna Anna Aldobrandini Princess of Sarsina (* December 8, 1874 in Rome, † September 17, 1898 in Ariccia), the daughter of Prince Pietro Aldobrandini, Prince of Sarsina, and his wife, Françoise Charlotte Victorine Marie de La Rochefoucauld.

They had two children:
