Ludwig Achenbach
Ludwig Achenbach (born August 26, 1812 in Mannheim ; † 1879 ) was a lawyer and politician from Baden . He was Lord Mayor of Mannheim and a member of the Baden state parliament.
Life
Ludwig Achenbach studied at the Universities of Heidelberg and Bonn law . In Heidelberg he joined the Corps Rhenania Heidelberg and in Bonn in 1832 the Corps Rhenania Bonn .
Achenbach had been a senior court counsel for a long time before he was elected as a member of the Baden state parliament in 1854 , to which he belonged until 1866. There he supported the liberal policies of August Lamey . In 1861 the Great Citizens' Committee elected Achenbach as Lord Mayor of Mannheim. The first permanent bridge over the Rhine was built during his tenure . He also campaigned for the Mannheim – Karlsruhe Rhine Valley Railway . In the petty bourgeoisie, however, he could no longer find a majority, so that he lost to Eduard Moll in the mayoral election in 1870 . Achenbach is buried in the main cemetery in Mannheim .
