Ludwig Franz Xaver Baumann (born November 9, 1950 in Rosenheim ) is a German opera singer (bass baritone) and has been the initiator and director of the "Gut Immling Chiemgau Opera Festival" at Gut Immling in Halfing since 1997 .

Life

Ludwig Baumann grew up on a farm with lots of animals, which shaped his love for animals and especially horses from the beginning.

After finishing school, he first studied singing at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich. After graduating, he had permanent engagements in Los Angeles and Rome, as well as at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich , in Düsseldorf, Coburg , at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich and in Cologne. He has made guest appearances on many major opera stages around the world, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin , at the Semperoper in Dresden, at the Paris Opera and at numerous festivals. His roles were diverse, but the role of Papageno in The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was his favorite, which he sang 300 times. He also performed in numerous concert halls under well-known conductors.

Ludwig Baumann is not only an opera singer, but also an interpreter of folk songs and folk music. In 1986 he applied with the song Heimat ist ... at the first Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1986 , but the song did not reach the final. It was also recorded by other performers (such as Günter Wewel ).

In 1994 a stage accident stopped Baumann's operatic career. He then retired to Gut Immling between Bad Endorf and Halfing im Chiemgau . There he transferred his animals from his parents' farm in Aising near Rosenheim. Over 100 horses as well as donkeys, goats, sheep, cats, dogs, birds, rabbits and pot-bellied pigs now live there.

Baumann has been organizing workshops and concerts in Rosenheim from Gut Immling since 1994 and finally launched the “International Music Festival in Chiemgau Gut Immling” in 1997 in the riding hall of his estate, which has taken place annually since then and attracts opera fans to Lake Chiemsee. Here Baumann stages operas for children (e.g. Mozart's Magic Flute) and for adults (e.g. “ The Bartered Bride ”). Baumann is now singing at gala concerts again.

He is married to the conductor and church musician Cornelia von Kerssenbrock (* 1970).
