Ludwig Blomstrand (born March 8, 1993 in Uppsala ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Södertälje SK from HockeyAllsvenskan since January 2018 .

Career

Ludwig Blomstrand began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of Almtuna IS , where he was active until 2009. The winger then moved to the youth department of Djurgårdens IF , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien , the top Swedish division, in the 2011/12 season . He had previously been selected by the Vancouver Canucks as the 120th player in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round . After his club's relegation to HockeyAllsvenskan , Blomstrand was transferred within the league to his former youth club Almtuna IS. There he scored a total of 19 points in 30 games.

On March 18, 2013, the winger signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks and then moved to North America. There he was first used with the Chicago Wolves , the farm team of the Canucks, in the American Hockey League . He also started the 2013/14 season in the AHL, where he played for the Canucks' new farm team, the Utica Comets . After six games, however, he was ordered to the third-class ECHL to the Kalamazoo Wings . The Swedish winger was a regular at Kalamazoo Wings until the end of the 2015/16 season, before joining his former club Almtuna IS in the 2016/17 season, where he was subsequently on the ice in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan.

The following season, the striker moved to the first division club Karlskrona HK , but only completed ten games in the Svenska Hockeyligan . His involvement in Karlskrona ended in January 2018, and Blomstrand then signed a contract with the Swedish second division club Södertälje SK .

International

For Sweden , Blomstrand took part in the 2011 U18 World Junior Championship , where he and his team won the silver medal. Blomstrand was in six games in which he remained pointless and punished.
