Hermann Gottfried Ludwig Hosch (born November 20, 1859 in Schneidlingen , † June 7, 1930 in Jessen ) was a Protestant pastor .

Hosch attended schools in Halle (Saale) (in the Francke Foundations ), Langensalza and Mühlhausen / Thuringia . From 1880 to 1883 he studied Protestant theology at the University of Halle and then attended the seminary in Wittenberg . After ordination in 1886, he received his first pastor's position in Schönewalde in 1887 . Appointed pastor at the church of St. Nicolai in Jessen (Elster) in 1895 , he took up his post in 1896 and worked here for almost 24 years. In 1919 Hosch took over the post of provost and superintendent in neighboring Schlieben . When, in 1928, several small church districts were merged to form the Jessen church district (which had since become part of the Wittenberg Evangelical Church District), Hosch returned to Jessen as superintendent of the church district and worked here until his retirement in 1930. He died two months later.

Hosch is best known for the fact that, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Jessen school and homeland festival in 1913, he composed the text for the Jessen homeland song At the foot of gentle mountains ... , which is sung to the melody of the old student song O old boyhood . In addition, he was particularly committed to church youth work and was heavily involved in the local community. Ludwig-Hosch-Straße is named after him.
