Ludwig Kroll

Ludwig Kroll (* 16 July 1915 in Baden-Baden , † 14. September 1989 in Mainz ) was a German politician of the CDU .

Life and work

After attending the upper secondary school and the higher commercial school in Baden-Baden, Kroll completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller from 1932 to 1935. Since 1931 he was involved in the Protestant youth and was a co-founder of the YMCA in Baden-Baden. After initially working in the book trade, he switched to publishing in 1937. From 1940 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier .

In 1946 Kroll became a partner in a bookshop in Baden-Baden, which he took over completely in 1951. In 1963 he became deputy head of the program evaluation and media research department of the Second German Television , where he had been in charge of the newly founded Historical Archive on his initiative since 1969 and was director of the central archive from 1973 until his retirement in 1979.

Kroll was a member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Church in Baden (1953-1959), was a member of the advisory board of the Badnerland Heimatbund and was district chairman of the Trustees of Indivisible Germany in Baden-Baden from 1958 to 1967 . Between 1970 and 1978 Kroll was a member of the federal executive committee of the Association of Radio, Film and Television Professionals. Since 1970 he was a member and between 1973 and 1979 also deputy chairman of the study group for broadcasting and history .

Kroll was married and had three children.

Political party

Kroll had been deputy district chairman of the BCSV (later the Baden regional association of the CDU) in Baden-Baden since 1948 . In 1951 he was elected to the state executive and since 1952 he was CDU state chairman for Baden .

MP

Between 1946 and 1959, Kroll was a city councilor in Baden-Baden. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1961, where he represented the constituency of Rastatt .
