Ludwig Marxer (Lawyer)

Ludwig Marxer (born April 27, 1897 in Eschen , † February 20, 1962 in Vaduz ) was a Liechtenstein lawyer and politician .

biography

Ludwig Marxer was born in Eschen in 1897 as the eighth child and second son of the veterinarian Ludwig Marxer and his wife Maria Anna (née Öhri). His older brother and two sisters had died before he was born. After his father became a provisional state veterinarian in 1898, the family moved to Vaduz, where he lived. Marxer attended elementary school and then, thanks to a scholarship from the state school council, the Stella Matutina Jesuit high school in Feldkirch and then moved to the Feldkirch city high school, where he passed his Matura. Then studied law and political science at the University of Innsbruck . There doctoratehe was awarded a Dr. iur. and in 1924 Dr. rer. pole. From 1925 onwards, Marxer founded the Ludwig Marxer law firm in Vaduz, which later became the law firm Marxer & Partner .

Politically, he was involved in the Progressive Citizens' Party , in which he was a leading exponent between 1926 and 1945, including the office of party president. After the state elections in January 1926 , the Christian Social People's Party and the Progressive Citizens' Party could not agree on a common government . Among other things, the Christian-Social People's Party does not accept Marxer's candidacy for the government council. Which ultimately led to early elections in April .

From 1927 to 1928 Marxer was editor of the Liechtensteiner Volksblatt . From 1928 to 1933 he acted as deputy head of government under the head of government Josef Hoop . After 1933 he devoted himself to his legal work again and was also active as a legal advisor to the government. In 1937 he was given the title of «Princely Judicial Councilor». Then in 1960 the title "Real Judiciary".

In 1932 he married Franziska Peer, the daughter of the Austrian politician and lawyer Josef Peer , who was provincial administrator of the Principality of Liechtenstein from 1920 to 1921 . The marriage resulted in three children, a son Peter Marxer , who later also became a lawyer and took over his law firm after his father's death, and two daughters. Ludwig Marxer died of a stroke in 1962 .
